When offsetting assets are often split into those readily exchangeable for cash, and those that cannot be realised immediately such as pensions and family businesses. Sometimes a reduction is made to these non-cash assets to reflect the fact that most divorcing couples have a greater need for cash than normal, and so future income is less valuable to them than normal. Our offset report is the first to combine actuarial methodology and utility theory to produce an objective amount for the adjustment pension values. All we need from you is information about the pensions and the BDM Wealth Categories for the spouse in future years. Full descriptions appear in the brochure and application form.
You are always welcome to ring us if you are uncertain which category applies, and we can complete the instruction immediately. Reports may also be single-party instructions, with the appropriate wealth categories suitable for discussion in Court.
