The Express Pension Valuation (EPV) is a quick and cost effective means of valuing defined benefit pensions.  It does not require the authority of the pension holder or their scheme.  It differs from a full actuarial report in that it relies on the data provided and makes some simplifications on scheme benefit design

Use the EPV when offsetting in amicable or collaborative proceedings, or to see how much a CETV undervalues the appropriate value of a spouse's final salary pension.
